The Listening Room was ABC Radio’s premier acoustic art program and it was broadcast each Monday evening on ABC Classic FM at 9:00 pm. The presenter was Andrew McLennan.
As an space for the exploration of radio forms and imaginative program making, The Listening Room had a core group of producers and sound engineers who worked together, and who engaged with Australian and international artists to create radiophonic works. The group had strong links with a range of artists including composers, writers, performance artists, electronic media artists, environmental sound recordists and sound designers.
The program has won an impressive array of national and international prizes for its work. It is recognized around the world as a leading centre of excellence for the creation and dissemination of radio art.
